A Music Festival in a Stunning Medieval Castle
Castell Roc (Welsh for Castle Rock) is a lively music festival held in the magical environment of a fairy tale venue - Chepstow Castle, an ancient castle on the Welsh border.
Every August the medieval castle transforms from a tourist attraction by day to an open air arena each evening. Inspiring performances include rock, soul, and pop groups, solo artists, cover bands, DJ's, theatre companies... the list goes on.
I had never visited Castell Roc before, and I must say I was blown away by the experience. We loved the friendly welcome, great atmosphere and it felt safe within the Castle walls.
With enough video footage to produce a short film for the event, we very nearly missed the Bank Holiday shows from Wille and the Bandits and New Model Army. But for me these were the most exciting performances, despite not being a follower of either band, until that evening. At the end of the night we met Wille and the Bandits on the gate, greeting their audience as they left. What a generous touch!
